Is the alcohol industry fooling us about the links between cancer and alcohol?

The Drug and Alcohol Review released a study this month called How alcohol industry organisations misled the public about alcohol and cancer.

Most organisations were found to have used three tactics to have misled the public about the links in order to ‘protect profits’.

CEO of Cancer Council Australia, Dr. Sanchia Aranda claims that there is a lack of awareness within the public and its health risks.

Executive Director of Alcohol Beverages Australia, Fergus Taylor, said the statements in the study were ‘disappointing’ as all research conducted by the alcohol industry is based on ‘independent research’ and ‘clinical advice’.
