Astana Peace Talk: Will Syria and Russia resolve their conflict?

A ceasefire between the Syrian government and rebels has been in effect since December, however Russia has reportedly confirmed further peace talks to be set on 23 January in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana. While these peace talks bring light to the conflict in the Middle East, they do not include ISIL, as fighting in rebel held areas have continued near Damascus. The Daily’s Rod Chambers was joined by Dr Alexey Muraviev Head, Department of Social Sciences and Security Studies at Curtin University to discuss these possible peace talks in Astana and what that means for the war in Syria. Will there finally be peace in Astana?
