Bereaved women shouldering financial burden

The death of a partner is one of the most distressing and difficult times in an individual’s life.

Women in particular, who generally live longer than their male partners, face an increased risk of health problems following the death of a partner. In addition, they are also facing increased stress from financial burdens. That’s the result of a new study, looking at the financial concerns for recently bereaved older women.

The study found that women are often managing household finances for the first time, as well as struggling with a cut in pension payments. This often creates psychological health issues.
