The clean energy target that includes gas and coal?

Energetics becomes a hot topic as the new target for Australia is being discussed following the power outage in 2016.

The responses of environmental organisations to The Final Report of the Independent Review into the Future Security of the National Electricity Market are not positive. The Final Report of the Review was presented to the Council of Australian Governments Leaders’ meeting on June 9th 2017.

Following the release of the Report, the author, Dr Alan Finkel spoke at the National Press Club on 21 June.

The response of environmental agencies followed:

The ACF is alarmed that the Finkel review proposes a clean energy target for Australia that includes gas and coal.

They also feel that the target is not ambitious enough, suggesting that a decade ago Prime Minister John Howard and his Climate Change Minister Malcolm Turnbull proposed a more ambitious clean energy target.

Myles Houlbrook-Walk talked to Suzanne Harter, Climate Change and Clean Energy Campaigner, ACF to discuss the topic further.
