On the money this week: The release of the Panama Papers has rocked the world, exposing international tax avoidance on an unprecedented scale. But the leak is just the beginning of a much bigger story. A new report from Getup says that 76 of Australia’s biggest companies pay half the corporate rate in taxes. So how much potential tax revenue is being lost? We find out. We also look at the small business tax concessions announced in last year’s budget. ABS data has shown an increase in retail and car sales for the financial year ended 2015, but are these tax concessions responsible for the pickup? We talk with the experts who’ve been following the trends and crunching the numbers.
