Facebook’s Strategy to Combat Image Based Abuse

Image-based abuse is a massive issue in Australia, with RMIT and Monash University reporting that 1 in 5 Australians have been a victim of having their intimate pictures being released without their consent. But now, Facebook has announced new technology to combat revenge porn. With this new system, users would have to send their intimate images to Facebook, who would then identify and block the same picture from being uploaded again. But is it safe to trust Facebook to protect you from image-based abuse?
