Fairfax Unfairly Undercutting the arts

Fairfax plans to cut 125 jobs and the arts sector is at risk of being significantly diminished. 

Exposure is how an artist finds more work, so if we erase the critic who reports on the artist it not only affects arts journalists, but the artists as well.

The bleak future of journalists who have poured their much focused time into critiquing and reporting on the artists who’s livelihood depends on the exposure of their work may not exist.

Professor in Creative Arts, Julian Meyrick spoke to Myles Houlbrook-Walk on the future of the arts sector following the job cuts at Fairfax Media.
