When the band’s US label French Kiss (Les Savy Fav,The Hold Steady) sent Wichita the ‘Visiter’ album, the label staff were initially intrigued by what seemed to be a combination of sweet singer songwriter harmonies with more psychedelic, wigged out passages in other parts. Wichita’s interest was further piqued when Les Savy Fav themselves arrived in February raving about this two piece and telling them they might be the best band that had ever supported them and that their live show was incredible. Given Les Savy Fav’s reputation as one of the best live bands on the planet, that’s high praise indeed.The recent South By Southwest shows in Austin, TX were the fi nal clincher. Across an amazing seven shows in four days the band literally blew our minds - we saw beautiful acoustic shows where the vocals and words shone out, and then gigs that had everyone talking about Led Zeppelin and ROCK!!” says Mark Bowen, Head of Wichita.
Expanded from the core of Meric Long and Logan Kroeber who make up the band, to include Joe Haener from Gris Gris playing vibes, toy piano and percussion, each performance seemed to be unique and every show left crowds’ mouths agape. Soon the world was catching on, and with indecent haste, Wichita tied the knot with the band to release ‘The Visiter’.
First single will be the track ‘Fools’. Even before release, the massive buzz created by their shows at South By Southwest has an Australian tour in the work.
