Garage Barbershop
In a humble garage in the heart of Blacktown self taught barber Charles Lomu and his five apprentices cut, fade and shave locals’ hair. His barbershop is more then a workplace, but a hub for men to congregate and converse.
Garage Barbershop, presented by ICE and Blacktown Arts Centre, captures the spirit of this shop, masculinity and the men of Blacktown. This morning we spoke with the exhibition’s producer Christian Tancred about the work.
