How is hair a sustainable resource?

When it’s on our heads we think of it stylistically, but as soon as it’s cut off, we see it as gross and want to get rid of it.

Australians cut of 400,000 kilos of hair each year with nearly all of that going to landfill, but did you know by throwing it away we’re missing out on a valuable sustainable resource?

The use of hair is becoming more and more varied, and can be used as home insulation if put inside brick mix or even as a means to clean up oil spills.
