The Housing Crisis vs. The Transport Department

An idea to build 3400 homes in a sought after area of Sydney is the new development in the State Government’s never ending attempts to end the chronic housing supply crisis. But when the Planning Minister gets all excited, the Transport Department isn’t as excited. Despite good news like quotas of affordable housing and renewed parkland rezoning, the Transport Department says it won’t support the idea until Mona Vale Road is expanded and increased bus services are put in place. 2SER’s Hans Lee spoke to Lisa Visentin, the Urban Affairs reporter of the Sydney Morning Herald to find out about an issue close to home.
