Is human hair an environmental saviour?

Anyone who’s left their hair just a bit long between washes would believe that it can hold on to three to nine times its weight in oil, but I doubt many of us would have said that’s a good thing – until now. Did you know that human hair clippings may be able to be used to manage environmental disasters like oil spills? Nic chatted with UTS Masters of Science student Rebecca Pagnucco about her research into this creative and eco-friendly solution, which seeks to give a second life to what ends up on the salon floor.
