Identifying trauma in pre-schoolers (Extended Interview)

Early childhood educators are vital to a child’s development, but how much do they know about childhood trauma?

For example, when an otherwise content child starts having tantrums that are out of character, how should their pre schoolteacher react?

Professor Lawrence Lam has been looking at how to better training early educators in their knowledge or socio-emotional development and emotional intelligence.

Lawrence is a Professor of Public Health with the Faculty of Health & Graduate School of Health at UTS. He’s been training early childhood teachers in Hong Kong about emotional intelligence, and how to weave that into curriculums.
