Medicinal cannabis can now be prescribed in NSW

Starting today, NSW doctors will be able to prescribe medicinal cannabis to their patients. Until now, cannabis-based medicines have only been available to patients in NSW enrolled in clinical trials. Premier Mike Baird has said new regulatory changes mean the drugs can now be considered for ­patients who have exhausted other standard treatment options. But will it be the panacea that some pain sufferers are looking for, or are the regulations too stringent to make a difference. To find out more, we were joined by Michael Balderstone, President of the Australian HEMP Party.
