New Music with Andrew Khedoori

Join Andrew Khedoori for a dose of instrumental music as they talk exciting new sounds.

First up is an instrumental band from America, Los Straitjackets with their new album (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding. Written by one of the great melody makers, Nick Lowe, their album is inspired by his love of rock, pop melody and country.

Next we have Malik Abdul Rahmaan from the United States who has come from the Japanese hip hop scene. He creates new beats to capture the essence of his travels, soaking up the sounds of South East Asia funk, Bollywood and traditional sounds in his album Field Research Malaysia to create deeper hip hop music. We preview his new track Kampung Baru Stroll where he uses his experience of travel as a medium for creating incredible, unique sounds.

Chicago producer Jerrilynn Patton is at the forefront of footwork with her new album Black Origami. Her music is furious, yet beautiful with incredible detail in her compositions. Delve in and listen to her global span in sound sources from Japanese, to Indian and African. Her complex pattern of music mirrors the craziness of everyday life and is quite confronting, yet exhilarating to listen to. We play her album’s closing track, Challenge (To Be Continued) showcasing the direction electrica is going. For more new music and reviews, head to 2ser SERvin Up!
