The NYT in Australia – A business move or a journalism move?
The New York Times is opening an experimental bureau in Australia. Our first guest today thinks that Australia could use more than the Times’ view of the world – in fact, she thinks that an American agenda on local news could be harming to “democracy” as well as basic journalistic values. So why does the Times really want to break into the Australian market? The Daily was joined by Alex Wake, a senior journalism lecturer at RMIT University in Melbourne.
