The Politics of Public Housing

Sydney is known for its harbourside glamour, however, there is a building that is situated in the Rocks that is hard not to pass judgement on. For the past couple of year, the Sirius Building has been the topic of much debate. The building has the local community fighting for its listing on the state heritage register and stands as a relic of 1970’s brutalism.

Nic chatted with PhD candidate and Urban Environment academic Philippa Nicole Barr from the Macquarie University about the politics behind social housing buildings like London’s Grenfell Tower and our very own Sirius.
