The Free Design
Wednesday 7:30pm - 9:00pm
The Free Design forges connections between old and new sounds. Expect an eclectic selection encompassing everything from the myriad sounds of jazz (ecstatic, vocal and meditative) to other traditional roots music like soul, funk and reggae. Stepping forward we explore experimental electronica, new-folk and post-rock.
Also, music from around the globe with a particular emphasis on Middle Eastern, Balkan, 70s salsa and other Latin sounds.
The Free Design loves artists like; Alice Coltrane, Sun Ra, Horace Silver, Don Cherry, Les McCann, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Yusef Lateef, Marilyn Crispell, Keith Jarrett, Thomasz Stanko Quartet, Harold Budd and Luc Ferrari.
As well as Thomas Koner, David Sylvian, Miho Hatori, Low, Hood, Yo La Tengo, Karen Dalton, Judee Sill, Andy Bey, Terry Callier, Shirley Horn, Erma Franklin, Bill Withers, Augustus Pablo, Dr Alimentado, Jackie Mittoo and Shuggie Otis.
