The Wire is a daily current affairs program broadcast on community radio stations around Australia.

The Wire is a program for the national community radio sector - available via COMRADSAT and NIRS to more than 200 stations in areas ranging from city to regional to remote indigenous communities.

The Guidelines and the Editorial Policy aim to ensure that the program has a consistent format, style and approach. The Wire will take an independent approach to current issues, guided by the Editorial Policy. It will offer critical coverage and challenge all points of view, not just offering a platform for alternative views. It will put issues and events in context and always ask 'why'. It will engage listeners by presenting issues in lively, stimulating and creative forms, appropriate to an intelligent community radio audience, living in diverse communities. It will seek to communicate with listeners in a personal rather than self-important manner; will avoid a self-righteous tone and respect the capacity of listeners to form their own opinions.

Produced by a consortium of progressive community broadcasters: Radio Adelaide 101.5 FM, 2SER in Sydney, the National Indigenous Radio Service (NIRS).

Produced with the assistance of the Community Broadcasting Foundation.
