Protesting Aboriginal youth in detention

Today marks Aboriginal Children’s Day, which is dedicated to bringing awareness to an increased amount of Indigenous children who are taken away from their families and put in foster care or placed in the juvenile detention system, in facilities like Don Dale.

Today, the organisation Grandmothers Against Removals are protesting poor treatment of Indigenous children by the Government in lieu of the child abuse taking place at facilities such as Don Dale was made public last week.

Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning’s Padraic Gibson joins me now to discuss the protest.
