Socially responsible investing: Australia’s first live database launched

Do you know where your money goes when you invest? In recent years, there’s been growing interest in impact investing, which aims to create a positive social or environmental impact instead of merely financial returns. Also known as socially responsible investing, it allows people to fund causes which align with their values and avoid contributing to the world’s problems.

Set to become a $32 billion industry by 2022, impact investing has been hindered by a lack of transparency and accessibility for the average investor, catering mainly to industry insiders. The Social Impact Hub is counteracting this with the launch of the Australia’s first live impact investing database.

Jessica Roth, the founder and director of the Social Impact Hub, talked about how the website helps connect people to ethical investment options, and how we should be using investment as a tool for social change.
