Standing up to the mental health stigma in the workplace

Awareness and representation of mental illness in the media and in society are increasing. One issue that is particularly troublesome are reports from people with mental illness that they are being discriminated against in the workplace

They said their coworkers were treat them negatively, avoiding them, and have even been fired or made redundant on the basis of their mental illness.

Many have reportedly failed to find a job when they disclose their illness, and when they do, they feel they are not getting enough support.

University of Melbourne’s Dr Nicola Reavley joind host Sam Baran to discuss how to better support those with a mental illness in the workplace.
