Sydney’s new cage-free zoo

A brand new cage-free zoo has been approved and is set to open in Sydney’s West in 2018.

The Bungarribee Super Park project was approved by the New South Wales Planning Assessment Commission and will cost $36 million to develop.

With over 30 exhibits housing popular exotic and native wildlife, the project is expected to create 300 jobs, contribute an estimated $45 million a year to the economy and $3 million in extra tourist spending in the area.

The 16.5 hectare zoo will focus on education and conservation, and utilise leading technology to fulfill their promise to redefine the visitor experience in Australia into a more immersive and engaging event.

Jake Burgess, the director of the new Sydney Zoo project, also spoke about the zoo’s innovative integrated Aboriginal and natural heritage program, that will focus on the local Darug people of Western Sydney.
