Are walls of algae the structures of the future?

A group of researchers have recently teamed up with the City of Sydney to develop a new green building facade filled with micro-algae which can generate energy and warmth. While the technology has been trialed in some European cities, this new Sydney project is an exciting Australian first. Nic Healey chats with Associate Professor Sara Wilkinson from the UTS School of the Built Environment about the amazing potential of algal building technologies, and how walls of algae could be the way of the future.
