Flying Foxes

With appearances on 3 continents with The Teenagers (France/UK) and The Black Keys (USA), collecting 11 broken bones from a NYC taxi cab along the way, Flying Foxes have blazed a dramatic trail since forming in the Spanish Quarter of Sydney in 2007. Telling tall stories spoilt with candour, their fractured urban fairytales paint portraits of the joy and tears, swagger and fears and the comedy of errors, against a backdrop of nervy guitars, addictive melodies and relentless rhythm. Makeshift is an interdisciplinary art & design studio co-piloted by Tessa Rapaport + Karl Logge. We work mainly in installation, public art, printmaking and drawing, but also do a sideline in sustainable graphic and object design (websites, posters, T-shirts, CD covers, portable offices etc.). Underlapper are a six piece band based in Sydney who explore an eclectic range of genres, from experimental pop and post rock, to downbeat electronica and beyond. Naked on the Vague

Sydney's Naked on the Vague are Lucy C Phelan and Mathew P Hopkins. Since forming a few years ago, Naked on the Vague have continued to make their mark on the underground music community with their unique sound that fuses no-wave pop sensibility with experimental, psychedelic noise soundscapes. They have released a 7" record, an EP entitled 'Sad Sun,' and most recently their debut album 'The Blood Pressure Sessions,' out through Dual Plover. More...

Heidi Elva

Heidi Elva grew up in a small town in New Zealand. Under mountain ranges. Her father a postman and a preacher, her mother a housewife.

Heidi left New Zealand in 1999 and in 2003 went off to study music in northern NSW. There she found the harp and started writing. She plays her own songs with a cellist and a trumpet player. She uses loops and effects and sings. Sometimes looping mobile samples through the harp. There are interesting sounds on the mobile internet. Heidi is inspired by nature and urban landscapes – silhouettes of houses and trees, the sound of birds and cars and the beauty of japanese minimalism.More...

Peabody is a four piece band from Sydney. They have release two albums, played at the Big Day Out, Homebake and Livid festivals, and have generally smashed the state for over ten years! They are currently working on album number three, so stay tuned! More...

ollo

Nearly four years on from their critically acclaimed debut album, "Sleeper", ollo are back with the follow up, 2ser album of the week 'The If If". Between albums they toured live and DJ'ed internationally, created video art, and began a weekly radio show on 2ser - Extended Play. More...

Playback Theatre Sydney

Playback is an improvised theatre form dedicated to the stories of everyday life. There is no script for Playback - the stories, the moments, the emotions and the script come from the audience. It’s a marvel to watch as the improvising ensemble-a mix of actors and musician skillfully and playfully craft your story. The distance between the audience and the performers that exists in traditional theatre disappears in Playback as audience and actors create the drama of the evening together. More...

Black Sesame is Sydney based vocalist, violinist, songwriter and ex-mathematician Melissa Cox, accompanied by an array of musicians including the amazing efforts of CODA strings; CODA being ARIA award nominees and CODA strings (the majority of the CODA line up) have appeared on recordings for Toni Collette, Gomez, Kid Confucious, The Sleepy Jackson, Lior, Gelbison and Vassy. VertigoNation

VertigoNation make songs that are like mini road trips. There sound is at once arresting and comforting as they cross electronic elements with classic rock styles. The trio have been experimenting with different styles and arrangements to come up with their newest tracks which are their truest sound. Influences as extreme and varied as Rammstein, The Prodigy, Goldfrapp and Garbage meet in their music.

Their sound a unique flavour, paying definite homage to European bands and apart from cultivating fans from every corner of the globe through relentless internet promotion, they are able to offer the Australian scene something fresh that has been welcomed by internet prowlers and live audiences alike.
