Whist a Sydney Festival event

Aoi Nakamura joins Stages in the studio to talk about WHIST

Inspired by Sigmund Freud’s real case studies, this surreal theatre-meets-VR experience invites you deep inside the unconscious mind.

The primal and the hi-tech merge in an immersive, 360-degree experience, where instinct and desire will drive you in one of 76 possible directions, as you take an illuminating journey inside a fictional family’s fears and dreams.

Don a VR headset and follow your intuition to explore the installation. At the end of the performance each participant receives an access code that opens an illuminating analysis of the paths they chose, like interactive 3D Freudian therapy.

This is a promenade standing performance. Audiences are advised to wear comfortable footwear, and will be required to wear a Samsung Gear VR headset and headphones during the performance.

This performance contains partial nudity and sexual references. Recommended for ages 16+.
