Local Eora/Sydney musician Julia Why? has just released Dust Suspended on a Sunbeam, her third full length, today on the excellent Blossom Rot Records. Despite the title implying fragility, it’s a record of thick and textured production as it oscillates between strident full-sounded shoegaze and oceanic dream-pop. All recorded on the far-south coast of NSW.
The Very Best of Clive from Accounts is a tongue in cheek misnomer from producer Richard Day, being the London-based artists debut record. Arriving on excellent NYC imprint Razor-and-Tape, Clive from Accounts really adds to a flourishing resume here with impeccable production across a range of styles, taking in hip hop, house, funk, disco and much more.
Florence Adooni has been a regular collaborator and backing vocalist for a long time with the likes of Jimi Tenor as well as Alogte Oho and His Sounds of Joy, and the Ghanaian artist has finally released her debut album (via Philophon). A.O.E.I.U (An Ordinary Exercise In Unity) is a high-energy and afro-futurist odyssey of joy-filled modern highlife, loaded with rich guitar melodies, shuffling syncopated rhythms, a powerful accompanying horn section and stacked vocal harmonies.
