Australians can now look forward to receiving their first COVID-19 vaccine booster shot as early as November, as the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approves Pfizer for use as a booster shot.
These booster shots are useful – especially for those people in high risk groups – to boost protection that can fade over time after initial vaccination.
However, there are questions around vaccine equity with some experts arguing that we should prioritise reaching full vaccination around the world before focusing on booster shots within the general population in Australia.
