Why Aboriginal footy players are making a mark

Did you know that Aboriginal people make up 11-14% of Australia’s rugby league and AFL teams?

It’s a fantastic achievement, considering Aboriginal people make up 3% of Australia’s population.

So what is it about Indigenous people that makes them so good at footy? John Evans ispoke to 8 Aboriginal players about their childhood to find out the key, and has discovered three common elements among elite players.

John is a Professor of Indigenous Health Education at UTS and Wiradjuri man from NSW. He speaks to Ellen Leabeater.
