Addressing dementia care for LGBTQ+ sufferers

A responsible duty of care is expected, and by and large provided, for Australians living with dementia. Though, how does the standard approach change if there’s other things to consider?

Challenges can present themselves for gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans and gender
diverse dementia sufferers, as well as their carers. Expired social attitudes and the lived experience of older members of the LGBTQ+ community can often exacerbate the condition as they move into the later stages of life.
