Around Town – August 20th – 21st

This week we look at all the best events coming up this weekend to enjoy during Sydney’s lockdown.

UNSW Sydney’s newest faculty, UNSW Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA), has unveiled ADAnow: a month-long program of online activities and events that celebrates and showcases how its ethos of creativity is shaping the future of our world. The ADA now program is open to the public and brings together exciting thinkers and creators from a range of disciplines including art and design, built environment, social sciences, media, music and so much more to explore how creativity and collaboration is tackling some of the most-pressing global challenges we face today.

Are you a 5 to 10-year-old budding scientist? Or an adult friend or teacher of a 5 to 10-year-old budding scientist? If so, then From Swamp to Scrub is for you! From Swamp to Scrub is Greater Sydney Parklands’ first virtual community event, bringing our parks to Australians to celebrate National Science Week on 14 – 22 August 2021.

In 2022, the Sydney Lunar Festival will be celebrating the Year of the Tiger. To celebrate the unique viewpoint of Sydney’s young people, 6 winning designs will be selected and will be displayed throughout the city on its street banner network, bus shelters, billboards and other advertising channels. Each winner will also receive a $150 gift card from Riot Art & Craft.

More information on all these events, plus more, are available on the City of Sydney website.
