Article 14.1 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights reads; “Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution”
This is the central focus for artist Phuong Ngo in his 10 day performance at the MCA where he invites audiences to reflect on the treatment of refugees seeking asylum both past and present.
Nicole Beck spoke with curator of the show, Megan Robson about what the performance entails and it’s importance as part of the 2019 Sydney Festival program.
Article 14.1 will be at the Museum of Contemporary art daily until January 23.
