Artificial Intelligence in the Medical Field

How would you react if you went to the doctor or the hospital and you were faced with Artificial Intelligence as part of your patient care? Well it could be happening sooner than you think. Last year Google’s researchers revealed that they had trained image recognition algorithms to recognise signs of diabetes-related eye disease almost as well as human experts. So how soon can we expect to see AI in our patient care systems? What are the benefits and the concerns? To answer all our questions we spoke to Dr Luke Oakden-Rayner, Radiologist and PhD candidate at the University of Adelaide.
