Artificial reef to boost Sydney Harbour’s marine biodiversity

More than 50 per cent of Sydney Harbour is lined by sandstone seawalls. A collaborative project by the Sydney Opera House, the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and the University of Sydney will see an artificial reef installed in Sydney Harbour in order to enhance the seawalls, boost marine biodiversity and improve the natural habitat for marine life.

But will an ‘artificial’ reef be sustainable?

To find out more about the project, Tess was joined by UTS Professor of Marine Ecology David Booth.
