Astronomists Confirming Einstein’s 100 year old Theory!

Gravitational waves have been detected from a collision of a second set of black holes one billion years ago. What does this mean?

Well, 100 years ago Einstein developed the theory of General Relativity meaning that there are detecable ripples known as gravitational waves which allowed us to explore space. Very confusing!

The LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory) has recently detected the collision of 2 black holes which occurred over a billion years ago. This is the second time waves on this scale have been confirmed.

To shed light on this topic, Professor Fred Watson , astronomer at the Australian Astronomical Observatory joined Jamie Travers to explain the impact of this event.
