Audio Description for the visually impaired on ABC and SBS

The announcement of Audio description now available on ABC and SBS is a huge win for visually impaired Australians.
More than 453,000 Australians live with blindness or live with a visual impairment and are not able to enjoy television, which can effect enjoying such things as sports or film.
After 30 years of advocating and trial testing undertaken this year, two Australian broadcasters are now able to begin offering up to 14 hours of audio described content per week.
Professor Katie Ellis from Curtin University joined the Daily to discuss this milestone in Australian broadcasting.
