Australian doctors silenced by Border Force Act: A breach of Constitutional freedom?

While Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull calls for a Royal Commission into Youth Detention after last week’s media storm, another organisation is calling for the un-gagging of Australian doctors working in offshore detention centres.

Doctors for Refugees has filed a high court challenge against the 2015 Border Force Act which threatens 2 years imprisonment for any doctor who advocates for one of their patients.

Dr Barri Phatarfod, co-founder and Convenor of Doctors for Refugees, joined Sam to talk about the challenge. Sam first asked what Doctors for Refugees’s mission was.
