Behrouz Boochani and Omid Tofighian on No Friend But The Mountains

Behrouz Boochani is a Kurdish novelist, filmmaker, poet and human rights defender. He fled Iran for Australia in 2013 and has been detained on Manus Island since then. His new novel No Friend But the Mountains was entirely written through encrypted messages and secret correspondence with translator Omid Tofighian from Manus Island. Tess spoke with Boochani and Tofighian about the new book, and his experiences being detained on Manus Island while writing it. No Friend But the Mountains: Writing From Manus Prison is available at all good bookstores.
