Billie Marten Chats ‘Dog Eared’, New Zealand & Horse Riding

Once you hear the ethereal voice of Billie Marten, it’ll be one you won’t be able to shake. Drawing listeners, Billie has an air of magicality and softness to her voice that is truly distinct and entrancing.
Marten’s songs often feel like diary entries – pulled straight from her chest. Featuring an air of rawness and understanding, backed with layers of instrumentation that only enhance her poignant lyricism.
Putting out her first EP ‘Ribbon’ back in 2014, Marten has truly developed into a one-of-a-kind musician and songwriter. Her upcoming fifth album ‘Dog Eared’ (Out July 18th) feels like a completely new adventure. An energetic uptick from her previous work, Marten has expanded the mould for herself. ‘Dog Eared’ feels completely new and refreshing, while still holding the air of softness and tenderness that is so notable within her discography. ‘Dog Eared’ is truly a feat.
Billie Marten joined Dream State host Jas to chat all about her experience touring, an encounter with a famous horse, the meaning behind ‘Dog Eared’ and her parents’ first reaction to hearing the album.
