Brandi Nyarlu Program and Healing Power of Art

The Brandi Nyarlu program, which means “good women” was designed to give the indigenous women of Mullewa an outlet that enabled them to deal with the reality of the issues that Closing the Gap has failed to address. Before the COVID-19 pandemic forced restrictions on group gatherings, these women attended a small art studio on the main street of Mullewa. The program aims to give the women a supportive network of other women who they can turn to when life gets tough.

Art therapist, Sonya Bandy, who worked with the women each week joined Daily host Sean Britten to talk about the program and its results.
