Buddy Project Tackles Mental Illness with Friendship

Who do you call when you’re having a hard time? Maybe it’s your best friend, maybe it’s your Mum, maybe it’s your partner. But for socially isolated teens who lack strong support systems it’s not always so simple. As a 15 year old Gabrielle Frost recognised this and launched launched Buddy Project, an online initiative that aims to combat mental illness with friendship. Just over five years later, the organisation boasts over 225,000 sign-ups and is in the process of developing an app. Now CEO of an international organisation, Gabrielle is continuing to advocate for mental health awareness particularly amongst young people. We spoke to her today on The Daily to find out more about what Buddy Project does.
