After two years of disrupted learning and the cancelation of significant events like formals and graduation, advocates are urging that greater mental health support be provided to senior students.

This week in Victoria, Year 12 students will return part-time to in person learning while NSW will see year 12s return from October 18th.

Mental health experts say the graduating class of 2021 have endured many stressors; with extensions to the study period of their final year, challenges of online learning and social isolation.

Though the recent introduction of under 18 “social bubbles” in NSW and push for vaccination of senior students in Victoria have provided much needed relief, Lecturer in Clinical Psychology The University of Sydney, Caroline Hunt says more needs to be done to support the mental health of senior students.
