Campaign to Solve Australia’s Housing Crisis

With the 2019 elections around the corner, Australia’s housing crisis seems to not be a topic of importance anymore. Many Australians, particularly millennials and low to middle income people are part of the 30% of Sydney Siders that will be renters for the rest of their lives. 100,000 people are homeless and 20,000 are only just children and in NSW alone. A locally driven campaign by the Sydney Community Forum is part of a larger, citywide campaign of the Sydney Alliance which is a coalition of churches, community organisations and Unions is bringing the fight for affordable and secure rental housing to the doorstep of parliament. 2SER was joined by Asha Ramzan, the Executive Officer of the Sydney community forum to tell us more about this campaign.
