Can exercise really prevent type 2 diabetes?

An astounding 280 Australians develop diabetes every day making it the fastest growing chronic condition in the country. Conventional wisdom says that fitness levels and an active lifestyle can help prevent type 2 diabetes but new research has cast some doubt on that. Binh Nguyen is a researcher from the University of Sydney’s Prevention Research Collaboration and her report was presented on Tuesday at the Sax Institute’s 45 and Up Study Collaborator’s Meeting. She spoke with us about her findings today.
