China Taking Aim At Australia In The South China Sea

The situation between China and other nations in the South China Sea has dragged on for some time now, with China most recently ignoring a ruling by the Hague Council that it has no legal claim over the area. It’s a ruling other nations, such as Australia, have supported and China isn’t happy. The Global Times state-run newspaper has launched a blistering attack on our sunburnt country, calling Australia “delirious”, an “offshore prison for the UK” and more worryingly, indicating it sees Australia as ripe pickings for a Chinese military attack.

We were joined by Dr Euan Graham, Director of the International Security Program at the Lowy Institute, and an expert in Australian defense and maritime disputes.
