Chocolate Crisis

In Australia, we’re hooked on chocolate. We eat six kilos of the stuff per person per year, placing us in the Top 10 chocolate consuming countries on the planet. The future of chocolate however, isn’t looking so sweet. Professor of Plant Pathology, David Guest from the University of Sydney talks with Nic Healey about the cacao plant and its vulnerability to climate change, pests, diseases and human conflict in cacao-growing areas of the world. Have we reached “peak chocolate” and are prices set to skyrocket?
