Are Copyright Laws Holding Back Aussie Creatives?

The process of creating, such as producing a film, writing music or painting a piece of art, are all extremely complex and individual undertakings. However, when the process includes drawing influence or re-using someone else’s work, the Australian laws of copyright can begin a long and stressful journey for the creative’s project.  A new study conducted by the University of Technology, Queensland has found that copyright laws actually act as a deterrent to creation rather than an incentive for it.

Lecturer for the School of Law at The University of Technology, Queensland, Dr. Kylie Pappalardo, spoke to the Daily to discuss just how it impacts the Australian creative industry.
