COVID-19’s Impact on Aussie Sports

The continued spread of COVID-19 has caused International sports leagues to take increasingly drastic measures as players and officials became infected and play was shut down. However, here in Australia our two major codes are just beginning their seasons and the implications of a delayed or cancelled season could be disastrous for media rights deals and match day revenue for clubs.

The NBL and Sheffield Shield have cancelled the end of their seasons, while the A-League will finish without crowds. Australian sports leagues are not as rich as some international leagues and the financial security of some organisations are now in jeopardy.
