Cultural Awareness in the Australian Curriculum

Is the Australian education system doing enough to incorporate the different ethnic backgrounds of students in the classroom? It is no doubt to that the Australia is becoming more diverse and this also means more diversity in the classroom. However, in primary and secondary schools don’t seem to be celebrating other cultures as much as they are tolerating it. Sure, once a year Harmony Day rolls around and children have one day to celebrate and learn about other cultures but does it do enough to make kids become more culturally aware. A diverse and multi-faceted approach to education isn’t incorporated into the curriculum and teachers are expected to have an intercultural perspective already.
