Cut! Time to Talk About Mental Health On Set

While Australia’s film and TV sector continues to shine on screen, many behind-the-scenes workers face toxic conditions, burnout, and fear that speaking up could end their careers.

Associate Professor Peter Hegedus, Filmmaker Academic and Bobbi-Lea Dionysius, Creative Producer and Researcher in Film School at Griffith University joined us to talk about findings from their research on mental health in the screen industry. They discussed the culture of silence, the risks of “career suicide” for those who speak out, and what needs to change to create safer, more supportive workplaces.

As the industry moves forward, the real spotlight needs to be on wellbeing, because creativity shouldn’t come at the cost of mental health.
